Jim Difrederico began officiating in the 1950s and became known as the consummate official. Player, coaches and fans in the state knew his knowledge of the game, along with his poise and presence put him in complete control of any situation. “Difred”, as his friends knew him, was the Gold Standard for basketball officials.
